Hail to the Chief

Uncategorized

I am returning from another trip and sadly, CJ McKusick passed away while I was gone.  The newspapers have recited the bare facts of his extraordinary life, working on the Manhattan Project, clerking for Learned Hand and Felix Frankfurter, and appointed as Chief Justice from private practice at PA, to whence he returned until he stopped practicing at age 90.

I had the opportunity to argue in front of him, then confer with him when he came back to PA after he served two stints on the bench.  As the newspapers say, he was always a gentleman, thoughtful and kind.  Services are to be held at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Portland Dec. 28 at 2 pm.
